Dr. Malissa Alinor is a sociologist who broadly researches how individuals experience bias. In her current and published work she has explored the effects of competency microaggressions, the emotions related to experiencing racial bias, racial implicit bias towards professional dress, the effects of sexual harassment policies on gender inequality, and more. In her current role as a postdoctoral fellow at the Stanford VMware Women’s Leadership Innovation Lab (in affiliation with Stanford Impact Labs), she is working with a team of scholars dedicated to making social science research work for the social good. She earned her PhD in Sociology at the University of Georgia in 2021 and while there was awarded the Southern Regional Education Board Dissertation Fellowship, American Sociological Association Minority Fellowship Program, the Dean’s Award as well as several grants and awards. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in sociology at the University of Florida and graduated summa cum laude.
