      <image:title>Home - Dr. Malissa Alinor is a sociologist whose research focuses on how women and people of color experience discrimination, the emotional and behavioral consequences of experiencing discrimination, and how organizational policies shape racial and gender inequality. She is a mixed methodologist with expertise in experimental, qualitative, and quantitative methods. Dr. Alinor is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She previously held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Stanford VMware Women’s Leadership and Innovation Lab in affiliation with the Stanford Impact Labs- using social science research for the social good. She earned a Ph.D and M.A. in sociology from the University of Georgia and a B.A., summa cum laude, in sociology from the University of Florida.</image:title>

      <image:caption>Dr. Malissa Alinor is a sociologist who broadly researches how individuals experience bias. In her current and published work she has explored the effects of competency microaggressions, the emotions related to experiencing racial bias, racial implicit bias towards professional dress, the effects of sexual harassment policies on gender inequality, and more. In her current role as a postdoctoral fellow at the Stanford VMware Women’s Leadership Innovation Lab (in affiliation with Stanford Impact Labs), she is working with a team of scholars dedicated to making social science research work for the social good. She earned her PhD in Sociology at the University of Georgia in 2021 and while there was awarded the Southern Regional Education Board Dissertation Fellowship, American Sociological Association Minority Fellowship Program, the Dean’s Award as well as several grants and awards. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in sociology at the University of Florida and graduated summa cum laude.</image:caption>
